What Is CBD Anyway?

CBD is the shorthand for the chemical compound Cannabidiol.  CBD is one of over 80 cannabinoid compounds found in Cannabis Sativa L, an annual herbaceous flowering plant. CBD oil comes from an organic substance formed in the plant’s secretions.

While industrial hemp, medical marijuana, and recreational marijuana are all members of the cannabis family, hemp differs from other cannabis species by its extremely low THC content.  Until recently, delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, was the most well-known and studied cannabinoid due to its abundance in marijuana.  Thankfully there is growing research regarding CBD’s effects, potential benefits, and potential risks.  

CBD is the top non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp, and the only source of CBD used in our Gold Medal CBD products.  Unlike THC, CBD does not cause any feeling of “high”.  CBD is also legal in all 50 US states.  Meaning you don’t need to go to a dispensary to purchase CBD oil.
